Social Skills groups for Kids
We provide a happy, creative, relaxed environment for kids to thrive, discover who they are and practice being social. These are not your average social skills groups, they are fun while still focusing on helping with skill development by giving kids the opportunities to interact with kids their own age. Our groups are based around activities such as soccer, and while there is a structured set of social skills to work on, we look for fluid opportunities and teachable moments to help kids learn social skills. This is based on play, structured activities and for some groups lots of movements, Children learn best when they are engaged, through play and with people their own age.
The groups are led by a qualified teacher and a psychologist who oversees the program. This means you can use your NDIS funding (if self funded or plan managed) for these groups as while they are fun and based around activities, they are structured around evidence based social skills methods. We use the Social Thinking Curriculum basis for our social skills attainment. The groups focus on different age appropriate skills, but generally they look at understanding thinking, feeling, being in a group, understanding friendship, making good choices, making plans in a group, taking turns, body awareness, holding conversations and learning to join in.
Parents will also receive tips what they can continue to do to support them at home. Call us to talk about whether these groups are right for you. Our intake process is to first do a phone screening with our psychologist. At this screening we can look at any underlying difficulties and challenges, and assess suitability. Discuss any previous diagnosis or social challenges.
Take a look at our flyer for more information.
The groups will run over 6 weeks.
The total cost of the group is $900.
The cost includes at half hour session of parent feedback at the end of the course.
If an extra report is required for funding or review then an additional fee will apply.

Group Programs for early learning centres and preschools
School Readiness and social skills groups in your setting
As an early learning educator, you are a vital part of children develop their social, emotional and life skills to be happy, healthy children. I want to make an early intervention program that comes to you, to help give those children who need intervention before starting school, but may miss out of visiting a psychologist or a community health centre for various reasons. All children can participate in the program or just those who need extra help. This helps parents who are time poor, or who may feel that visiting an external psychologist is too confronting.
Give your centre an extra edge by offering children some of the most valuable skills they can learn in house. Some children need extra help learning to regulate, so I can run a program to help children learn the skills to regulate, or training for the carers to help them support emotional regulation. I can develop a program tailored to your needs. The cost of the programs will depend on the number of participants for children’s groups. The fee can be charged per child or for the entire group. I am happy to chat to parents first about their concerns and goals, and this is part of the program fee.

An important part of in a well-being team is supporting students and staff. As part of that role it is often necessary to debrief or seek supervision externally, to support best practice. This ensures that the wellbeing staff are supported and this means better outcomes for students. Brenda has worked for several years in offering supervision to school counselors and social workers. She works with helping staff in case consultation and in counselling skill development, in a warm and supportive way.
Program development for students
Brenda can run a range of programs to enhance the emotional and psychological health of children and adolescents. Programs include:
- Social skills
- Flexible thinking
